In an age where cyber threats loom large, our program introduces students to the critical field of safeguarding digital assets. From mastering multiple numbering systems to exploring Microsoft Windows and LINUX operating systems, students dive deep into the essentials.
Through courses like network fundamentals and cybersecurity, students learn networking, vulnerability assessment and cyber forensics, preparing for real-world challenges. Earn credentials like CompTIA Security+ and Network+, setting the scene for a thriving career.
Program Overview
This program introduces students to the broad field of cybersecurity. Students learn multiple numbering systems, become familiar with Microsoft Windows, and LINUX operating systems. They learn networking, vulnerability assessment, and cyber forensics. Students participate in the national CyberPatriot competition. Opportunities also exist for student internships and industry recognized certifications.

For students graduating from a cybersecurity program without pursuing further education, there are several entry-level job opportunities available in the field. These may include:

Cybersecurity Technician: Cybersecurity technicians assist in protecting computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. They may monitor security systems, investigate security incidents, and implement security measures to prevent unauthorized access or breaches.

Network Technician: Network technicians support the operation and maintenance of computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks. They may troubleshoot network issues, configure network devices, and implement security protocols to protect network infrastructure.

Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst: SOC analysts work in security operations centers to monitor and analyze security events and incidents. They use security information and event management (SIEM) tools to detect and respond to security threats in real-time, escalating incidents as necessary.

They may conduct security assessments, develop security policies and procedures, and respond to security incidents. A bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or a related field is typically required for entry-level positions.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a nonprofit student organization committed to preparing today’s students for success in business leadership. With over 70 years of developing future business leaders, Alabama FBLA develops members’ leadership potential and business content knowledge, preparing them for college and career. FBLA is an important partner in the success of school-to-work programs, business education, and student leadership development.
CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air & Space Forces Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future. At the core of the program is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, the nation's largest cyber defense competition that puts middle and high school students in charge of securing virtual networks.
