AEA
The Alabama Education Association (AEA) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing public education in Alabama. Representing educators and support staff, AEA advocates for quality teaching, adequate funding and professional development to ensure every student in Alabama receives a top-notch education. It also provides job-related legal services and $1 million in liability insurance to its members. It's the largest professional organization in Alabama with approximately 90,000 educators. American Fidelity
American Fidelity is a supplemental benefits provider that specializes in offering insurance products and financial services to educators. They provide tailored solutions such as disability insurance, life insurance and retirement planning to help employees manage their financial security and prepare for the future. Open enrollment is held each November for a January 1 effective date. Offerings include:

Lincoln Life Insurance
Employees receive a free $10,000 board paid life insurance policy from Lincoln Life Insurance. At age 65, each member will begin to experience an age reduction in policy coverage. Contact hr@albertk12.org for more information on age bands.

PEEHIP
The Public Education Employees' Health Insurance Plan (PEEHIP) is a comprehensive health insurance program designed for Alabama's public education employees. Administered by the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA), PEEHIP offers a range of health benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, to ensure the well-being of educators and support staff across the state.
There is a 30-day open enrollment window for new hires. Standard open enrollment times include:
- July 1 - September 10 for open enrollment via the Member Online Services (MOS) portal.
- The flexible spending account deadline is Sept. 30.
- In the case of a qualifying life event, employees have 45 days to make changes. Examples of qualifying life events include birth or adoption of a child, marriage, loss of a dependent's employer coverage for certain reasons, death and divorce.

- Enroll in or change PEEHIP coverages.
- Make PEEHIP payments.
- Update your contact information.
- View your account details.
- View current coverage.
- Change your address.
For updated information on current premium rates, please click here. PEEHIP can also provide some assistance to its members by giving a discount on hospital medical premiums based on family size and household income. Active and retired members may apply by completing the Premium Assistance Application. The discount will be effective the first day of the second month after PEEHIP receives and approves the application. You must reapply each year.
The PEEHIP Wellness Program is designed to encourage members and their covered spouses to take charge of their health, starting with a basic wellness screening. Members and covered spouses enrolled in the PEEHIP Hospital Medical Group #14000 Plan (BCBS) can earn a waiver of the wellness premium by completing a free wellness screening each year.

RSA
The Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA) is the organization that administers retirement benefits for educators in Alabama. The Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) is a component of RSA that specifically manages retirement benefits for public education employees in Alabama.

- Part I of the Service Retirement Application Packet must be submitted to TRS 30-90 days prior to the retirement date.
RSA-1
The RSA-1 plan is a deferred compensation plan for public employees. As a supplement to other retirement benefits or savings that you may have, this voluntary plan allows you to save and invest extra money for retirement, tax-deferred.

- There is no open enrollment period. Employees may sign up at anytime in PowerSchool Records.
Sand Mountain Park and Amphitheater
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Being physically active can improve your brain health and memory, reduce stress, improve your sleep, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles and improve your ability to do every day activities.
The Albertville City Board of Education partners with Sand Mountain Park and Amphitheater (SMPA) for any full-time employee, including SPUR employees, to receive an individual premier membership, a $79/month value, for free. In addition to this benefit, you will have an option for a discounted family membership for a price of $30 per month. This will only include your immediate family.
To take advantage of this benefit, take your employee ID badge and visit the front desk at SMPA.

Uprise Health is a comprehensive health and wellness company that provides Employment Assistance Programs (EAPs), behavioral health services and wellness solutions. Their service sinclude mental health support, counseling, substance abuse treatment, and work-life balance resources, aimed at improving overall employee well-being and productivity.

VSP Vision Care
VSP Vision Care, offered by Vision Service Plan (VSP), provides comprehensive eye coverage, including regular eye exams, prescription glasses and contact lenses.
- The open enrollment for new hires is 30 days from the date of hire.
- Standard open enrollment begins July 1 and ends Aug. 31 for online enrollment via PowerSchool Records.
- In the case of a qualifying life event, changes must be made 45 days from the event.
