• Erin's Law requires Alabama schools to provide: 1) sexual abuse prevention lessons to students, and 2) staff training on abuse identification and reporting. For ACS students in grades K-6, the school counselors use the Child Protection Unit curriculum from Second Step (https://www.secondstep.org/child-protection) to teach age-appropriate lessons on unsafe and unwanted touches and how to report those situations to a trusted adult. School staff complete an online training program from the Alabama Department of Human Resources that meets the requirements for staff training.
