• Getting Involved in your Child's Education

    At Albertville City Schools, we believe that the family is the child’s first and most influential teacher. When parents are involved in their children's education, students do better in school. When parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and do better in life.A home environment that encourages learning is more important in achievement than income, education level or cultural background. It is vital that we work together as a team to help your student grow personally and academically. We encourage you to take an active role in your child’s education and have some suggestions listed below to help you get started this school year.

     

    1. Reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher to join the communication platform that the pod is using this school year. This will help you stay up to date with important information, reminders and provide you a quick way to check in with their teachers.

    2. If you are able to, join our school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). This is free to all parents to make a difference in our school.

    3. Make learning a priority at home. Designate a space in your home that is distraction free for your student to complete homework and study.

    4. Establish a routine at home that includes things such as study time, play time, dinner, sports and other activities important to your family while also having a bedtime that allows your child to get an adequate night’s sleep to be well rested the following day.

    5. Talk with your student about what is going on at school. Ask them to review class notes, practice math facts, read with them and talk about current events going on in the world.

    En las escuelas de la ciudad de Albertville, creemos que la familia es el primer maestro y el más influyente del niño. Cuando los padres participan en la educación de sus hijos, a los estudiantes les va mejor en la escuela.
