Dear Friends of Aggie Theatre, 

Aggie Theatre is here to stay, and it’s not going anywhere. We believe theatre is a profound tool for students to not only exercise their imagination but also instill crucial attributes for success, such as confidence, self-esteem, teamwork, and social skills. 

Unfortunately, we are seeing the effects of widespread misinformation in our community. Misinformation simply means getting the facts wrong. For this reason, we have included answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we are hearing below.

Do you have a question that we haven’t answered? Speak up and let us know. Others may have the same question, and we would love to have the opportunity to address it. Your ongoing support is crucial to the continued success of students and staff at ACS and Aggie Theatre.

Q: Is Aggie Theatre going away?

A: Aggie Theatre is NOT going away. 

Q: Why is ACS hiring two theatre teachers? 

A: When we look at the fine arts opportunities in Albertville City Schools, we see a glaring gap in the course offerings for theatre when compared to other fine arts departments. Currently, there are no courses available to Albertville High School students similar to what is offered for choir, music, and art. To remedy this, ACS is looking to hire two certified theatre teachers – one for elementary and one for high school – who can provide these electives to our students. 

Q: Does my student have to be in theatre classes to audition?

A: No. Auditions for Aggie Theatre performances will be open to all students, regardless of whether they are enrolled in theatre classes or not. 

Q: Will students be able to continue to play sports and be part of Aggie Theatre?

A: Yes. Students will audition for Aggie Theatre productions just as they always have. Students who participate in sports or other activities will still be able to audition for Aggie Theatre productions. Again, students do not have to be enrolled in theatre classes to participate. 

Q: Will the Exceptional Aggie Theatre continue?

A: Yes! ACS has every intention of continuing Exceptional Aggie Theatre!

Q: My student has already signed up for classes next year. Can theatre classes be added to their schedule?

A: This is where we appreciate your patience! Because we are still in the early stages of adding theatre classes, the logistics of scheduling is still being worked out. Once we have the teachers, we will update the schedule and determine how students can register for theatre classes. Stay tuned! As plans are finalized, we will let you know more.

Q: Is the Albertville City Schools Foundation going to continue to be part of Aggie Theatre?

A: The Albertville City Schools Foundation is a tremendous asset to ACS. Just as they support so many programs and activities for our students and teachers, they will continue to be part of Aggie Theatre and support productions going forward. 

Many of you are aware that Kelleybrooke Brown has decided not to continue working for Aggie Theatre through the Albertville City Schools Foundation. We appreciate her and want to recognize her hard work, talent, and dedication that has laid the foundation for Aggie Theatre to become what it is today. Kelleybrooke has been instrumental in building a quality theatre program for students in Albertville. Thank you for all you’ve done, and best wishes, KB!

Showtimes are 7 p.m. on April 20 and 21 and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on April 22 at the Albertville Fine Arts Center. Come see our students in their last performance of the school year. They have worked so hard this year and would love your support! We are so proud of them and can’t wait to see them continue to grow and excel in the 2023-2024 theatre season at Albertville City Schools.
