Albertville BOE holds regular monthly meeting for January

ALBERTVILLE – The Albertville Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Jan. 17.

Albertville Board of Education members Bobby Stewart, Mike Price, John Gladden, Melissa McKee, and Sandy Elkins were recognized for their special dedication to Albertville City Schools at the January board meeting. Each school sent the board members gifts, and the AHS Culinary Team provided some sweet treats at the meeting.

“Thank you for the great work you do” said Albertville Superintendent Dr. Boyd K. English. “We appreciate each of you and your dedication to our district.”

Dr. English and the board also recognized AHS School Resource Officer Jon Bearden. Bearden is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of a choking baby at the Marshall County Middle School Basketball Tournament earlier this month.

"I’ve known Officer Bearden for the last 20 years," Albertville High School Principal Jordan Phillips told the board. "He was a former student of mine at Crossville High School when I taught there. I’m just proud of the guy and everything he does for our school. It just shows you how education is so small as a community. We’ve come full circle to where he was my student, and now we work together."
