Albertville holds special called BOE meeting

The Albertville Board of Education held a special called board meeting on Nov. 2.

The Board approved inventory deletions from the Albertville High School Coliseum. The Coliseum is getting ready to undergo a $5 million renovation to become the home of The Aggie Band. The complete renovation will allow the band to have the largest dedicated building for a band in the state of Alabama.

The following personnel changes were approved at the meeting:

  • Kathy Nailor, retiring as CNP worker at Albertville Intermediate School, effective Jan. 1, 2023.
  • Yvette Mederos, resigning as auxiliary pre-kindergarten teacher at Albertville Kindergarten and Pre-K, effective Nov. 4, 2022.
  • Michael Hardin, employed as a 12-month custodian system-wide, effective Nov. 4, 2022.

The Board also approved Albertville High School to use American Travel Consulting Company, LLC, to assist the show choir in planning their trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. The trip was approved at the Oct. 18 regular board meeting.

Dr. English updated the Board on current absentee numbers from throughout the schools. There has been an uptick in absences because of the flu.
